Every day, I hear the latest research on how to lose 10 pounds today. Whether it’s green coffee extract, pomegranate juice, or going completely grain-free, everyone has an opinion. Did you hear that Dr. Oz admitted that the weight loss products associated with his name do not have sufficient research to support the claims?

Maybe, some reverse engineering is called for. After all, I had no problem gaining weight quickly in my childhood. I was so successful at it that I found myself over 100 pounds overweight by the time I was old enough to drink Mai Thais. It’s even easier to quickly gain weight over the busy  holiday season.

Here are my 3 best ways to gain 10 pounds in 3 days!

♥ Eat anywhere but at  the table♥

Forget that lonely, barren, wooden apparatus in the dining room. Instead, get takeout at the drive-thru and gobble it up before you hit your destination. Or, you can plunk your generous behind on the softest seat in the house in front of the boob tube. The best way is to eat while you are cooking or serving your children hand and foot, till you are too full to bother sitting down for a proper meal.

♥ Drink a tall glass of sugar every time you eat♥

I’m equal opportunity when it comes to calorie-laden beverages. Whether your poison is 100% juice, coffee with lots of cream and sugar, smoothies, pop, energy drinks or alcoholic concoctions, you belong to the same club. The sneaky calorie club. Load up on 2-3 sugary beverages every time you eat, and even through in a couple in between meals, too. It’s hot out there!

♥ Eat when no one else is watching♥

The house is (blissfully) quiet, you are tired after a long day, and you have no energy to do that exercise DVD you never found time for. No problem! Go directly to your kitchen cabinet and find the secret hiding spot for your favorite treat. You know, the place that is so high your kids can’t find it, and your husband never saw you buy it? Take out that bag of yumminess and have at it! You get extra credit for finding more than one hiding place.

In all fairness, losing weight is hard. But, somehow, we trick ourselves into gaining weight without thought.

Whether it’s the food porn on every commercial break, the images on social media, or our own habits, we struggle to just say no.

    1. Thanks for your comment, Mike. Overeating is a guaranteed weight gain technique, but I’m not so sure about junk food automatically leading to weight gain. I know plenty of people who are normal weight and regulars of fast food chains.
